This policy explains what information the Abyss Driller mobile game (“the app”, “we”, “us”) handles, why, and the choices you have. We have kept it short because the app collects very little.

1. Summary

  • No account, no sign-in. We never ask for your name, email address, phone number or any other contact details.
  • Your game progress stays with you. Gold, best depth, upgrades, Garage parts, Field Guide entries and daily challenge scores are saved on your device and, if iCloud is turned on, synced through your own iCloud account so they follow you to your other devices. Settings stay on the device. We do not run servers and we never receive this data.
  • Ads are provided by Google AdMob. The only data that leaves your device is what Google’s advertising software collects to show ads, as described in section 3.
  • Purchases are handled by Apple. We never see your payment details (section 4).
  • You are in control. You can decline ad tracking, change your consent at any time, and delete your game data from your device and iCloud (section 7).

2. Information stored on your device

The app saves the following on your device (using Apple’s standard on-device storage). It is never sent to us. If iCloud is turned on for the app, your game progress (not your settings) is also kept in your own iCloud account through Apple’s iCloud key-value storage, so you can continue on another device or after reinstalling. This copy is stored by Apple under its terms; we cannot access it:

DataPurpose
Game progress: gold, best depth, Workshop upgrade levels, Garage parts and their levels, boss cores, skins, Field Guide (creatures seen and defeated), number of runs played, gems collectedLets you keep your progress between sessions
Daily challenge scores (by date)Shows your best score for each day’s challenge
Daily ad counter (free upgrades claimed today)Applies the daily limit
Settings: steering sensitivity, joystick dead zone, joystick visibility, haptics, screen shakeRemembers your preferences

Deleting the app removes the copy on that device. The iCloud copy stays in your iCloud account after you delete the app, until you remove it in iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage (where the app is listed on your iOS version). It may also be included in your own device backups under Apple’s terms; we have no access to any of these.

3. Advertising (Google AdMob)

The app offers optional rewarded video ads: you can choose to watch one for a fuel refill when you run out of fuel, or for a free Workshop upgrade you cannot afford (limited per day). Between runs, the app may also show an occasional full-screen ad when you leave the results screen (at most once every few runs). Ads never interrupt gameplay. If you buy Remove Ads, no ads are shown, rewards are granted without an ad, and the advertising SDK is not started.

These ads are served by Google AdMob through the Google Mobile Ads SDK. To deliver ads, measure them and prevent fraud, Google may collect and process:

  • Device identifiers, such as the Apple advertising identifier (IDFA) only if you allow tracking (see below), and other identifiers used for frequency capping and fraud prevention
  • IP address, which may be used to estimate your general location (city/country level, not your precise location)
  • Device and app information, such as device model, operating system version, language and app version
  • Ad interactions, such as whether an ad was shown, watched or tapped
  • Diagnostic information, such as SDK crash and performance data

Google processes this information as described in its own policies:

  • How Google uses information from apps that use its services: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
  • Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

We do not receive any personal information from Google. AdMob only gives us aggregated reports, such as how many ads were shown and the resulting earnings. Under data protection law, we and Google are each responsible (as controllers) for the advertising data the SDK collects, even though we do not receive it ourselves.

Google may process this data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Such transfers are protected by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

Tracking permission (Apple App Tracking Transparency)

On first launch, iOS asks whether you allow the app to track your activity across other companies’ apps and websites.

  • If you allow it, Google may use the advertising identifier to show ads that are more relevant to you.
  • If you decline, the advertising identifier is not shared and you may still see ads, but they will be less personalised.

You can change this at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

Consent in the EEA, UK and Switzerland

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app shows a consent message, provided by Google’s User Messaging Platform, before any ads are requested. You can choose whether Google may use your data for personalised ads. You can review or change your choice at any time from Settings → Privacy choices in the app.

4. In-app purchases

The app offers optional in-app purchases (gold packs, Double Gold, Remove Ads, the Mega Bundle and drill skins). All payments are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your name, Apple ID or payment card details.

When you buy something, Apple confirms the purchase to the app on your device so the item can be delivered, and so permanent items (Double Gold, Remove Ads, the Mega Bundle and skins) can be restored on a new device with “Restore Purchases”. This confirmation stays between your device and Apple; we do not store or receive it. Apple’s privacy policy applies: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/

5. Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets a higher age, as in Romania and several other EU countries), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us and we will help.

6. How long data is kept

  • On-device game data: until you delete the app.
  • iCloud copy of your game progress: until you remove it from your iCloud account (section 2).
  • Advertising data collected by Google: kept by Google according to its own retention policies (see the Google links in section 3).
  • Support emails: kept only as long as needed to answer you and fix the problem, then deleted.

Apart from emails you choose to send us (section 10), we do not hold any personal data ourselves.

7. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, including under the GDPR (EU/UK) and the CCPA/CPRA (California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time.

Apart from emails you send us, we do not collect or store personal data ourselves, so the practical controls are:

  • Delete game data: delete the app from your device, and remove its data from your iCloud account (iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage).
  • Delete your support emails: ask us at the address below and we will delete them.
  • Stop ad tracking: turn off tracking for the app in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
  • Change ad consent (EEA/UK/Switzerland): in the app, open Settings → Privacy choices.
  • Data held by Google: manage it at https://myadcenter.google.com or contact Google through its privacy policy.

California residents: we do not sell your personal information for money. Showing personalised ads through Google may count as “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising under California law; you can opt out by declining tracking as described above.

Legal basis (EEA/UK): where personalised advertising is used, we rely on your consent, collected through the consent message in section 3. You can withdraw it at any time. Where you decline personalised ads, Google still processes limited data to show non-personalised ads, limit how often you see them and prevent fraud, based on our legitimate interest in funding the free game. We answer support emails based on our legitimate interest in helping you and fixing problems.

Complaints: you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority: in Romania, the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing (ANSPDCP, www.dataprotection.ro), or the authority in the country where you live.

If you have any questions or want to exercise a right, contact us at the address below.

8. Security

Game data stays on your device, and in your own iCloud account if you use it, protected by Apple’s security. Data sent to Google for advertising is transmitted using encrypted connections, under Google’s security practices.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy, for example if we add new features or partners. The effective date at the top shows when it was last changed. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.

10. Contact

If you email us, for example with Settings → Report a bug, we receive your email address and whatever you include (the report form adds your app version, device model and iOS version, which you can see and edit before sending). We use it only to reply and fix problems, and delete it when it is no longer needed.
